If yesterday’s win over the Pirates was the second half tone-setter, then today’s was the “no, seriously.” Not only was it a blowout win, but it also locked up the team’s first series win in over a month.
From thing one against Pirates starter Jordan Lyles, the Cubs’ bats were ready to annoy the crap out of him and ultimately beat him right out of the game before the first frame was over. Through four innings, the Cubs were up 10-0, and the game was over. There was some touchiness later on as the defense (and umpiring) was not as sharp as it should be, but there was plenty of legroom.
