I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 40 hours straight, past MLB’s July 31 Trade Deadline and through the Cubs/Cardinals game Wednesday night, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:
Brewers swapped Aguilar and Faria. Cubs want Whit but Whit ain’t comin’. Yu is (are) awesome. The Cubs’ bats are not.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
The Brewers swap is a pretty interesting, fair one for both sides.
I find this very annoying:
Give me a freaking break, dude. Even if it were true that your pitchers just keep going rogue for YEARS, then that would also be a huge failing on your part. https://t.co/s6aick7dCB

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
Still this: I am awaiting word of a reasonably-priced, moderately-useful bench bat. That is the realistic goal today. Anything else is gravy.
But also this:
There just literally – actual use of literally – HAVE to be a dozen or more minor deals basically done around the league, but the final trigger is being held up juuuust in case something that impacts it shakes loose. We could be in for 20 minor deals all being announced at 3:05.

I suspect the Cubs are one of those teams.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Water for now. Need a palate cleanse.

How I Feel:
Dragging. First time so far that I’m feeling it. Stomach not great. Fog is heavy. And kinda do feel like laying down a bit.
Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
But I can still make very stupid tweets:
