After his latest bout of severe command/confidence issues, it was already a really good possibility that Carl Edwards Jr. had pitched his last meaningful inning with the Cubs, regardless of the Trade Deadline.
But, indeed, it’s the Trade Deadline that pushes him out the door:
Cubs also traded Carl Edwards Jr. to the Padres, per source

I doubt the return will be significant – the Cubs needed to open up a 40-man spot anyway for Nick Castellanos.
Here’s hoping Carl has great success with the Padres. Stinks that it just wasn’t going to happen with the Cubs.
UPDATE: Hey, it’s a decent piece in return for Edwards:
Cubs get LHP Brad Wieck for Carl Edwards Jr. , according to source

Wieck, not to be confused with Rowan Wick (whom the Cubs also got from the Padres), is a 27-year-old lefty who has yet to put it together in the big leagues. Big, big stuff though. Interesting guy. More on him soon.
