One More Cubs Trade: Outfield Prospect Jimmy Herron to the Rockies for IFA Pool Space
Well that’s not a deal you typically see at the Trade Deadline, but it’s a fine one.
The Rockies have acquired Minor League outfielder Jimmy Herron from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for international signing bonus pool allotment.

The Cubs needed some IFA pool space after their spending splurge on July 2, and they part with their 3rd rounder from last year, outfielder Jimmy Herron, to get it. Herron, 23, hadn’t quite hit yet at High-A in his first full professional season, but given his pedigree, I anticipate the Cubs got a decent chunk of IFA space (TBA). Perhaps even enough to add an additional prospect or two from the late-signing portion of the IFA market.
