The Chicago Cubs eeked out a win last night and now have an early-shot at a series win against the A’s tonight. Here’s their lineup against old friend and lefty Brett Anderson.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Nicholas Castellanos, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- David Bote, 2B
- Victor Caratini, C
- Jon Lester, P
There are not many surprises in the lineup tonight, though this is a somber reminder that Willson Contreras is on the injured list and Victor Caratini will be the nominal “starter” with Taylor Davis backing him up.
As for Brett Anderson, he actually carries reverse splits for his career (lefties have hit him better than righties have), but normal splits this season. The Cubs have gone with their mostly righties lineup in any case, which includes David Bote at second base and Albert Almora Jr. in center field.
Given the way Nick Castellanos handles lefties and the way Javy Baez has been hitting lately, I’m looking toward those two to provide most of the offense tonight. As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (7:05 CT).
And then, after the game, you can stick around after the postgame show on NBC Sports Chicago for another episode of Outside the Ivy with Luis and I (or stream it on FB). Go Cubs.
