Kyle Hendricks is taking the mound for the Cubs this evening, with Sonny Gray standing opposite him for the Reds. Here’s the Cubs lineup for Game 3 in Cincinnati.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:Â
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- Nicholas Castellanos, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Jonathan Lucroy, C
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- David Bote, 2B
- Kyle Hendricks, P
Against the righty, Gray, tonight, Joe Maddon has tapped Albert Almora Jr. for center field and to give Jason Heyward a breather. David Bote has also rejoined the starting lineup to give Ian Happ a day off after finally hitting a wall offensively last night (0-4, 2Ks). It had to happen eventually.
Both Almora (3-7 with a homer against Gray) and (Bote 0-4, 1K) are right-handed, but Gray has reverse splits both this season and for his career.
Beyond that, Jonathan Lucroy is starting behind the plate instead of Victor Caratini and is 2-5 with a walk against Gray for his career. Nicholas Castellanos remains in the starting lineup, as well, and has done damage against Gray in the past (3-6, 2B, 3B, 2BB, K).
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:10 CT).
