Chicago Cubs Lineup: Saving The Toughest Matchup for Last

Chicago Cubs

Well, the Cubs have dropped two straight since winning the opening game of the series. Let’s see if this group can score some runs.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Jason Heyward, CF
  2. Nicholas Castellanos, RF
  3. Kris Bryant, 3B
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Javy Baez, SS
  6. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  7. Ian Happ, 2B
  8. Victor Caratini, C
  9. Jon Lester, P

This is a fairly “normal” lineup for the Cubs right now, albeit different from yesterday, which is to say these are the regulars in their usual spots both defensively and in the lineup, with essentially no “cuteness” from Joe Maddon.

And it’s a good day for a lack of cuteness, because the Cubs are lining up against a tough pitcher: righty Luis Castillo. Castillo has been plenty good overall this season, but he’s been especially brutal on righties, so the lefties in the lineup will have to show up big time tonight:

RHH v. Castillo: .156/.258/.241 (.229 wOBA)
LHH v. Castillo: .216/.312/.390 (.304 wOBA)

Yikes.

Kyle Schwarber has racked up 5 hits, including two doubles and three homers plus another five walks in just 14 at-bats against Castillo for his career, so hopefully whatever he sees when he’s on the mound is still there for him today. Caratini, by contrast, is 1-13 with 6 strikeouts (3 walks though).

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (12:10 CT).
