Jason Heyward has been scratched. See updated lineup and notes below.
The Cubs dropped the series-opener last night, but will try again tonight. Here’s their lineup for Game 2 against Aaron Nola and the Phillies.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
Jason Heyward, CFTony Kemp, 2B- Nicholas Castellanos, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Javy Baez, SS
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Ian Happ,
2BCF - Victor Caratini, C
- Cole Hamels, P
UPDATE: Jason Heyward has been scratched from tonight’s game with “left knee inflammation,” per the Cubs. He’s considered day-to-day (we’ll update this story more later on). For now, note that Ian Happ is moving from second base to center field and Tony Kemp is coming in to lead off and play second base.
There aren’t many surprises tonight, as the Cubs are basically rolling with the same lineup as yesterday, with a few exceptions:
(1) Ian Happ moves up a spot, from 8th to 7th.
(2) Kyle Schwarber enters the starting lineup, pushing Jason Heyward to center field and Nicholas Castellanos to right.
(3) Victor Caratini is behind the plate instead of Jonathan Lucroy.
None of these decisions are/were particularly surprising – in fact, I’d say tonight’s lineup is basically the default Cubs lineup against righties at the moment – but, uh, yeah. That’s that. As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:05 CT).
Oh, and Anthony Rizzo is 4-9 with 2 HRs and 3 walks against Nola lifetime, so let’s hope he can provide a spark tonight.
