IT’S TRULY MIRACULOUS. THE CUBS HELD A LATE LEAD ON THE ROAD!
Jon Lester was a freaking boss today (full BDJ mode), constantly put into jams created by his defense or the homeplate umpire (and only occasionally by the Pirates). But he (and then Tyler Chatwood, then Rowan Wick), worked out of every single one of them, no matter how perilous. It was pretty nuts. Just check the Pirates’ RISP number to see.
Offensively, the Cubs once again had just nothing at all, and were fortunate to get a solo homer from Kris Bryant and a gift run from the Pirates on a blown pick-off attempt. The effort was aided by a very strong defensive performance today (Bryant’s errors notwithstanding).
I just don’t even know what to do with myself.
