Anyone Else Need a Cubs Roster Reset?

Chicago Cubs

Thanks to the flurry of roster moves – injury activations, 26th man, surprise demotions – it’s been easy to lose a 10,000-foot view of the composition of the Cubs’ roster as they get back underway tonight. Heck, I wanted to take a second look for myself.

At present, the Cubs have their full complement of five starting pitchers, a one-more-than-usual nine in the bullpen (when Steve Cishek is activated tonight), just three on the bench, and then the remaining eight position players. I would not anticipate this formulation lasting too long, and it’s possible someone like Daniel Descalso will come back to displace a reliever.

The roster, for tonight at least …
