That game was as nuts as any we’ve seen this year, from the first inning on.
Thanks to multiple blown leads by both teams, it was the kind of game that no matter which team won and how, the other team was going to leave feeling like they choked it away.
Thankfully, it’s the Giants feeling that way right now.
Kris Bryant went CLUTCH in the 8th with the game-winning two-run homer, scoring Nick Castellanos in the process, who had just recorded his fourth hit of the night. Anthony Rizzo had two hits, including a huge double into the ivy. Javy Baez gave the Cubs the lead at one point with a dribbler. Kyle Schwarber hit a team-leading 29th homer. So much good stuff.
Yu Darvish got bit by the long ball in a big way, and the bullpen had some exceedingly shaky appearances. But how about Brandon Kintzler and Craig Kimbrel looking freaking nails in the 8th and 9th? On a night like that? Huge.
Whew. I still have to digest this one.
