Chicago Cubs Lineup: Happ Continues To Cover First in Rizzo’s Absence

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs won the opening game of their tough series in New York and have a chance to lock down an important series win tonight. Here’s their lineup for Game 2 Against the Thor.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Jason Heyward, CF
  2. Nicholas Castellanos, RF
  3. Kris Bryant, 3B
  4. Javy Baez, SS
  5. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  6. Addison Russell, 2B
  7. Ian Happ, 1B
  8. Victor Caratini, C
  9. Kyle Hendricks, P

There are really no surprises tonight, as Ian Happ continues to cover for Anthony Rizzo (back), who could return as soon tomorrow, if all goes well. And with Happ at second base, it’s Addison Russell covering second after a solid 3-4 (HR) performance last night.

Syndergaard is one of those mostly split-neutral pitchers for his career/this season (i.e. he’s just good against everyone), and he’ll face an even number of lefties (4) and righties (4) tonight – not counting Kyle Hendricks.

This would be a huge game to win with Jacob deGrom on tap tomorrow and the Brewers coming to town this weekend, so let’s see if the Cubs can do it. As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time.

And if you stick around after the post-game tonight, you can catch another episode of Outside the Ivy on NBC Sports Chicago/their Facebook page.
