What a freaking at bat by Victor Caratini, and I don’t just mean the three-run homer that concluded it.
Jacob deGrom clearly did not want to go back to his slider in on Caratini, who homered on the pitch earlier in the game. So he stayed away, away, away with 98 mph up, and 89 mph changeups down. But Caratini kept fouling ’em off.
Until finally, deGrom tried to sneak another slider in there … oops:
