Willson Contreras Nearing a Rehab Stint in Return from Hamstring Injury

Chicago Cubs

Things are looking good for Willson Contreras’s return from a hamstring injury in the next couple weeks.

Not only is he out there on the field running so aggressively that it makes for good meming …

But he’s also getting into “legit baseball activities,” as Theo Epstein put it, which means he’s finally close to a rehab stint with AAA Iowa. Joe Maddon agrees:

The Iowa Cubs kick off their final regular season series this weekend in Iowa, so that’s when you’d like to see Contreras get a start on his rehab stint. That way, with the I-Cubs headed to their postseason, he could get in at least three or four games, if necessary, before returning to the big league team.

Fingers crossed on an announcement today or tomorrow.
