Chicago Cubs

In a perverse way, I feel very fortunate that I’m solo with the three kids right now so I can’t spend the requisite time in this EBS ruminating on all the ways the Cubs offense frustrated me today, and I feel very happy that Craig Kimbrel gave up a three-run homer in the 9th to Christian Yelich to turn a 1-0 shutout into a borderline laugher. Whatever.

Yesterday’s shutout I could comment upon all the hard line drives that got unluckily caught. Today’s second consecutive shutout? Actually, this one was just hogsh*t, and the Cubs once again couldn’t get a single hit with runners in scoring position, and couldn’t even manage an extra-base hit. The roster was also managed in a bizarre way. And Javy Baez got hurt in the head/neck on a slide at second base. And Yu Darvish was scratched. And the good pitching was totally wasted. I’m getting worked up.

As I said, I can’t stew on it now because I’ve got two fighting kids and one crying kid. Clearly they, too, absorbed the negative vibes coming from the Cubs game.
