A flurry of pre-game updates today on the Cubs’ injured players, as well as one guy who isn’t injured, but is still getting totally up to speed.
On Javy Baez, who jammed his thumb on a slide yesterday and is out of the lineup today, Joe Maddon said it might be a multi-day break:
Joe said Baez's thumb was "sorer" today. He added Baez could get today and tomorrow off as an "all-star break." #Cubs

Willson Contreras (hamstring) is still on target to return this weekend:
Willson Contreras "getting pretty close" to return from hamstring injury. Could rejoin Cubs this weekend in MIL if all goes well these next couple days in rehab assignment.

Ben Zobrist should see his first start tomorrow, and he might lead off:
Maddon said Zobrist is in line to start Tuesday, but available to pinch-hit or come off the bench Monday here.
The possibility remains of Zobrist being plugged back into the leadoff spot, even in his first start.

And the word on Yu Darvish (forearm) from Maddon is that he’s still in line to start on Saturday, and Maddon still doesn’t think it’s serious.
