A rare September call-down, as the Cubs today sent catcher Taylor Davis back down to Iowa. There, he can participate in the I-Cubs’ postseason run a little bit. I’m sure being in MLB is always the main thing, but I don’t know – maybe having been with Iowa so much, Davis wouldn’t mind getting to be a part of their playoff games?
With Willson Contreras returning so quickly this past week, the Cubs were at four catchers. Even with expanded rosters, that’s not absolutely necessary, so down Davis goes.
Is it a teeny, tiny, extraordinarily small signal that Javy Baez and Kris Bryant are totally good to go? Ohhhhhh … probably not. Even without those guys and without Davis, the Cubs still have 14 other position players on the roster.
But, hey, if it makes you feel a tiny bit better, then God bless.
