The Cubs have already lost two pretty important games over the weekend (memories of last September), but a win this afternoon can go a very long way. The Brewers will either be 4.0 games behind the Cubs in the Wild Card race when we all hit the pillow tonight … or 2.0. That’s an enormous gap and the Cubs have some control over it.
Here’s the Cubs lineup for Game 4 in Milwaukee.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Ben Zobrist, 2B
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Nicholas Castellanos, RF
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jason Heyward, CF
- Addison Russell, SS
- David Bote, 3B
- Jon Lester, P
Well, the Cubs will continue to play short-handed for most of the season, with Javy Baez on the IL, but they are apparently also unable to get everyone else on the field at one time, too. As you can see, Kris Bryant, who’s been battling knee issues, is out of the lineup today, just as Willson Contreras, who was out with hamstring issues, returned.
In any case, this all means Addison Russell is still covering shortstop for Baez, David Bote is covering third base for Bryant, and Victor Caratini sits after two straights starts in favor of Contreras. Let’s hope it’s enough.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:10 CT).
