Enhanced Box Score: Cubs 4, Padres 1 – September 12, 2019
YUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.
What a start by Yu Darvish, who is presently managing forearm tightness, and yet managed to strike out more batters today (14) than he has in SIX YEARS. That was just something else.

Offensively, clearly the Cubs just needed the return of The Greatest Leadoff Hitter of All-Time to turn things around. Anthony Rizzo walked to lead off the game, and then scored a run. Obviously it was a tone thing!
Things got reeeeeeally dicey in the 9th, as the tying run came to the plate (in the form of a pinch-hitting Manny Machado) after two strikes (a pitch in the zone, and a check swing) were totally missed by the umps. Machado wound up getting plunked, but Rowan Wick struck out Luis Urias to end it.
Whew.
