I enjoyed parts of today’s game, which is saying a lot, all things considered. But even after Tony Kemp’s go-ahead homer, it’s not as if I felt any measure of confidence that the Cubs would actually win the game, or that it would matter even if they did. That’s just kinda how things feel right now.
So when Craig Kimbrel blew the game on consecutive pitches in the 9th, I immediately closed my computer and decided to just go out with The Wife for a date. I’ll see what’s what the rest of the season, but as far as letting the disappointments of 2019 impact my real life? Yeah, I’m all done with that.
