It was a rumor just last week, before anything official had happened with Joe Maddon and the Cubs, but now it’s looking like it might really be a thing. The Angels might be trying to pounce on Maddon ASAP, despite the presence of a just-signed manager.
Brad Ausmus might get Ricky Renteria’d:
Brad Ausmus is in jeopardy of losing his job as manager of the Angels, after his first year. His status is currently under consideration by the team’s leadership, with one source believing its more likely than not the Angels will go in another direction.

As @Buster_ESPN reported, the Angels are contemplating manager Brad Ausmus’ job status for 2020. According to a source, a decision is expected to be made within the next 24 hours. @Ken_Rosenthal reported this week that the Angels could consider a reunion with Joe Maddon.

Stay tuned, because this could happen very quickly. Keep in mind: although Maddon was under contract with the Cubs and could not negotiate with another team, he surely knew that a split was coming. That means he would have had plenty of time to at least contemplate a reunion with the Angels if the Cubs were moving on.
