With the Cubs’ managerial decision made, you wonder if the dam broke a little bit for other managerial gigs to start filling up.
One of those possibilities? Joe Girardi now knows for sure he can’t get the Cubs job, and decides to ink it up with the Phillies:

Girardi, an established, slightly-older-school type, is certainly the kind of manager it felt like Phillies ownership wanted after Gabe Kapler. We’ll see if Girardi makes the difference with a roster that is primed to try to win right now, and whether his addition will spur even more offseason spending by the Phillies.
