And the cheating scandal claims another.
Before today, the Astros’ sign-stealing had cost the team’s GM and manager their jobs, their former bench coach his job with the Red Sox, and now the just-hired Mets manager his job:
Carlos Beltran has told the Mets it is best if he steps down. Looks like the direction this will take.

Carlos Beltran is out as New York Mets manager due to his involvement in the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal, sources tell ESPN. He is the third manager to lose his job in the fallout.

With Beltran so prominently mentioned in the Commissioner’s decision, it was clear that he was among the more-involved players in sign-stealing scheme, and it was going to be very difficult for him to proceed as the manager of a club at this point. So, before he even manages a single game with the Mets – a team that had no involvement whatsoever in the scandal – he’s out.
Now the Mets join the Astros and Red Sox in looking for a new manager in mid-January. So weird and wild.
