Albert Almora, Jr. is Raking This Spring with His New Swing – Adds a Homer (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs

He’s been talking about his swing changes since the start of Spring Training, and we talked about how you *MIGHT* hope that swing changes could actually wind up impacting pitch selection and discipline for Albert Almora, but ultimately, we’re going to know almost nothing until the rubber really meets the road.

Until then, though, it sure is nice to see Almora doing nothing but ripping the ball so far this Spring. He was at it again today, driving two hard singles and then muscling up:

It’s hard to see Almora reclaiming the everyday center field job any time soon shy of an Ian Happ injury, because Happ is going to get plenty of deserved leash out there. But Almora figures to rotate in against lefties regularly if he’s hitting at all, and that’s when the other opportunities will come.
