You know why baseball’s the best? It never stops. There was a game on Saturday, there was a game on Sunday, there is a game today, and there’s a game every single day for the next two weeks (some days there are even TWO games).
Today’s contest is against the Mariners at their park and features the third starting pitcher vying for that fifth spot in the rotation, Adbert Alzolay, and a catcher vying for that final spot on the newly expanded 26-man roster, Josh Phegley. If I had to guess, I’d say Phegley is more likely to be the 26th man than Alzolay is the 5th starter, but I’m confident that both will contribute meaningfully and often to the Cubs in 2020.
Other than that, the 1-2 Bryzzo punch is back up top, Javy Baez is playing shortstop, Albert Almora’s in center field and we have Cubs baseball, ladies and gentleman. Let’s do it.
