Later this afternoon, Kyle Hendricks will take the mound for his Spring Training debut against the Kansas City Royals. And as a 30-year-old, 5.5 year big league veteran – holy crap, where did the time go? – Hendricks will be looking to show only one thing at this point in the year: that’ he’s healthy and feeling good.
Forget the results, forget the velocity. Just get in, throw some darts, hit the bench, go to In-and-Out, and prepare for the next one.
As for the lineup, Manager David Ross continues alternating between his Ian Happ-led group (which went yesterday) and the Kris Bryant-led group that’s going today. With that said, there is some carryover: Jason Heyward and Jason Kipnis both started yesterday, but are also getting the nod today.
Victor Caratini is behind the plate and we have Cubs baseball.
