Happy Sunday and happy March! The Cubs play real, regular season baseball games THIS MONTH, and it’s like 50 degrees outside in Chicago right now, so I’m a pretty happy camper this morning.
Jon Lester is taking the bump at Sloan Park today against the Mariners, where he’ll look to do a little better than his rough first spring outing last week, where nine Rockies batters did a whole lot of damage (3H, 5R, 3ER, 2BB, 0K) in a very short period of time (27 pitches, 1.0 IP). That’s why they call it Spring Training!
There aren’t many surprises among the Cubs lineup today, as David Ross has clearly settled into to alternating between these two now-familiar groups. So instead of breaking it down, I’ll just point out that Jason Kipnis is at second base again today and point you to Brett’s great article from last week:
