Tyler Chatwood is taking the mound today for his third start of the spring. He’s thrown just a total of 3.0 innings so far (2H, 1ER, 2BB, 2Ks), but I’d expect him to go at least as long today. Alec Mills has out-pitched him so far this spring, but Chatwood has been fine, himself. Their race for the fifth starter spot continues to heat up.
Chatwood will throw to Victor Caratini today.
On the other side of the field is the big bad Reds. Will their offseason additions help put them over the top and turn the NL Central on its side? Or will they land somewhere closer to their middle-of-the-pack projections? We won’t find out either today, but rhetorical questions are easy and the game is starting soon. Their lineup is mostly full of regulars, including Shogo Akiyama, whom I’m excited to get some eyes on.
Go Cubs.
