Even in an intrasquad game, the competitive juices can start flowing, a guy tries to make a play, and bad stuff can happen.
Unfortunately it happened tonight, as Albert Almora tried to make a play in center field and crashed into the bricks at Wrigley Field:

Almora is one of those guys who just goes all out all the time, and we’ve seen him throw his body around before. It’s just part of his game.
Almora reportedly stayed down for a while before leaving the field:

Almora leaves game, walking slowly off field with trainers. Injury/severity unclear. https://t.co/jsW0YNQFYH

We’ll update when there are more details. Hopefully Almora will be OK.
UPDATE: Thank goodness for the good news, and also, intrasquad games are weird:
Minor rib contusion for Albert Almora after hitting Wrigley wall in pursuit of Kris Bryant blast. He has re -entered game in on deck circle.

Back in center, Almora chased down a fly ball off the bat of Kipnis in the 6th, smiling as he made the catch. He pumped a fist in the air in celebration.
