Tonight, the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers will kick off a very unusual 2020 season, complete with just 60 total regular season games, the universal DH, ridiculous extra-inning rules, and no fans in the stands. It’s going to be weird.
Some more specific oddities include a brand new Cubs leadoff man, Kris Bryant, as well as a first-time Opening Day starter Kyle Hendricks. Both guys have been absolutely crucial to the Cubs success over the last five years and it’s good to see them first tonight. As for the Brewers, they have a series of new players in their lineup tonight/on their roster this year, including catcher Omar Narvaez, who should be a significant step down *behind the plate* from Yasmani Grandal last season. He’ll likely carry a big bat, but we’ll see what impact that has on the Brewers rotation.
Speaking of which, Brandon Woodruff gets the ball for the Brewers tonight and we discussed his splits, as well as the Cubs lineup, earlier today.
We’ve all been waiting a very long time for tonight, so enjoy it. And GO CUBS!
