Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Reds (5:40 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

Tonight, the Chicago Cubs are going for their fourth consecutive victory on the early season, and there’s reason to be both optimistic and pessimistic about their chances.

On the positive end of the bat, Kyle Hendricks is starting for the Cubs tonight, coming off an absolutely brilliant performance in Chicago to open up the season – a performance for which he won NL Player of the Week honors. Moreover, the Cubs bats have been rolling lately and the starting lineup will see the return of Kris Bryant (sore elbow) and Willson Contreras (regular night off). On the other end, Sonny Gray is starting for the Reds and historically he’s had the advantage over most of the Cubs hitters. The Cubs bullpen has also been extremely shaky and, of course, we’re talking about a road game against a pretty strong overall team.

A team, by the way, that is just tonight seeing the return of three key players: Nick Senzel, Mike Moustakas, and Tucker Barnhart. That’s a whole lot of firepower reentering the fray on a night with one of the teams better starters takes the mound.

The Cubs have been playing well, but this one won’t be easy. Go Cubs.
