Yu Darvish was supposed to start last night, but the weather in Cincinnati had something to say about that. Instead, the Cubs pushed back his start until today, when he’ll get a much easier lineup, the Pirates, at home in Wrigley Field.
In Darvish’s first start of the year, he struggled with his command quite a bit, so let’s see if he was able to reel that in in-between bouts. He’ll get a good offensive lineup behind him, though Nico Hoerner has been subbed out in favor of Jason Kipnis at second base, which is a drop-off defensively. As usual during Darvish starts, Victor Caratini will catch, and Willson Contreras is the DH.
As for the Pirates DH, Gregory Polanco, I’m left to assume only one thing:
Gregory Polanco is DHing tonight, presumably because he still hasn't gotten over this: https://t.co/ng6VXJcOTo pic.twitter.com/nFpsjIOkQO
