Yu Darvish’s first start of the season wasn’t much to write home over (4.0 IP, 6H, 3ER, 0BB, 5Ks), but he followed that up with a scoreless two-hit performance over 6.0 innings against the Pirates in his second start of 2020 – 7Ks, 1BB (his only walk of the year so far).
This is also his first start on the road this season, and opposite of Kyle Hendricks, Darvish got far better results away from Wrigley last year (3.09 ERA) than he did in Chicago (4.96 ERA). Hopefully, that holds true tonight as the Cubs go for their sixth straight win.
On the other side of the bump is 22-year-old lefty Kris Bubic, a 2018 competitive balance pick (40th overall) who pitched at A-ball and High-A last year. Quite a jump to the big leagues. Here’s hoping the Cubs’ lineup makes him feel unwelcomed.
