The Indians today put pitchers Zach Plesac and Mike Clevinger on the Restricted List as they quarantine themselves following a Saturday night out in Chicago, in violation of the health and safety protocols. Plesac was apparently busted Saturday night, and sent home to Cleveland in a rental car. Clevinger stayed silent and fly back with the team on Sunday. Only yesterday did the team learn that he was out with Plesac, and scratched him from his scheduled start.
So the two pitchers will not be with the club tonight or tomorrow against the Cubs, and each has offered a statement to atone for their selfish mistakes (with Clevinger’s being especially bad, since he hid his poor judgment from the team initially):
