Chicago Cubs

The Cubs win again. I could really get used to this. I have, actually.

Yu Darvish had everything working tonight, including a no-hitter through six innings. It wasn’t until Justin Smoak’s solo homer in the 7th that Darvish gave up a hit or a run, but he was pretty close to perfect.

Rowan Wick got the save opportunity in this one, presumably because Jeremy Jeffress threw last night, and got the job done, even as things got just a bit touchy in the 9th. He remains very clearly A Guy.

A relatively quiet night for the bats overall, who put a decent amount of traffic on the bases against old friend Brett Anderson, but didn’t push much across in the way of damage. Even the two runs in the 6th could’ve been a whole lot more with a timely hit or two. Hey, it’s not like four runs is a terrible night. And it was plenty with Darvish on the mound.
