The Cubs are hosting the Brewers for the second time this season, and once this series is over, they’ll have played 7 of their 10 scheduled games against each other this year, which … that’s just wild.
As for tonight’s game, Yu Darvish is on the mound for Chicago – pitching to Victor Caratini, as always – though it’s important to note his one bad start of the season was his first game of the year against Milwaukee. Hopefully, he has some better luck this time around. For what it’s worth, the Brewers have been pretty awful against right-handed pitching this season (79 wRC+, 26th in MLB), with the second highest strikeout rate in MLB. Yu Darvish is a righty with big time strikeout numbers. The matchup should favor the Cubs. We’ll see.
Opposite Darvish, the Brewers are starting lefty Brett Anderson, who’ll get a lineup almost completely full of righties (Anthony Rizzo is the only lefty). The Cubs have been just a little bit better than average against lefties this season (104 wRC+), so hopefully the new look lineup can improve on that mark.
Go Cubs.
