It would be just swell if the Cubs managed to win both halves of the double-header today, but with an off-day tomorrow, I’ll honestly settle for a split. If they manage to accomplish that much, the Cubs will have taken 3 of these 5 games, which is a perfectly fine outcome (especially when today’s first game is against Jack Flaherty).
Today will be Alec Mills fourth start of the season, and so far he hasn’t failed to go at least 6.0 innings in each of his first three. He did allow 4 earned runs in his last start against the Brewers, though that did come with 7 strikeouts and just 1 walk. All things considered, longevity will be the goal for Mills today, with expectedly heavy needs out of the bullpen for game 2.
Let’s go Cubs.
