It’s been a rough start to Joe Maddon’s tenure in Anaheim, not only owing to questions about his managerial decisions – that’s just part of the job – but also to the slow start for a team that came into the year with very high hopes. At a dismal 9-20, the Angels are not only in last place in the AL West, they are tied for the worst record in baseball outside of the Pirates. It’s been very bad.
One of the clear bright spots for the Angels, though, has been imported starter Dylan Bundy, who has looked fantastic outside of Baltimore (it happens). Bundy was overall pretty great again last night, with no assist from the first base umpire.
A couple check swing calls didn’t go Bundy’s way in quick succession, and his manager couldn’t let the second one go. That led to Joe Maddon’s ejection, and, in turn, led to Jomboy making an extremely enjoyable breakdown video of the ejection.
