Alec Mills had his first real stumble of the season five days ago, allowing a bunch of hard contact and far too many runs over a shortened outing against the Cardinals at Wrigley Field. But he’s got a softer matchup in the Tigers tonight and his place in the rotation has been secured for now (Jose Quintana is heading to the bullpen).
I would very much like to see him bounce back.
Meanwhile, the Tigers are starting one of the game’s top pitching prospects, Casey Mize, in his second big league start ever. At home and without fans, it’ll be tougher to count on nerves getting to him, so hopefully the Cubs bats come prepared. As long as they don’t load the bases against Mize, they should be fine, right?
Go Cubs.
