Maybe he still has a place in Chicago. Maybe he misses the best donuts in the world.
Whatever the case, shortly after being DFA’d by the Cincinnati Reds, Pedro Strop went on a road trip, per his Instagram Story, and just arrived in Chicago:

To be sure, this doesn’t necessarily mean Strop is rejoining the Cubs. It really could be a visit for other reasons, up to and including a meeting with the other team in Chicago or another team a little further north.
But if Strop were coming back to the Cubs, it wouldn’t be crazy that he’d head to Chicago for maybe a physical, since he’s getting over a groin injury. The Cubs are to be in Cincinnati this weekend, but it wouldn’t have been a lock that Strop would immediately rejoining the big league team. Maybe he’ll work out for some of the staff at Wrigley Field and they’ll see what’s up? Maybe he’ll then head to South Bend for a little while?
Like I said when he was DFA’d, I don’t know that you can count on Strop being a real contributor to the Cubs this year. He struggled through 2019, he’s 35 now, and he’s coming off a fresh groin injury.
But given his standing in the organization, it’s an invitation you put out there. If he looks good, great. If he doesn’t, you at least reached out. Everyone in the organization loves Strop for a reason. He’s a good dude that you want to have around. Let’s see if there’s something brewing, or if he just came to town to see some old friends ….
