Update: There is a rain delay in Pittsburgh.
Once again, Kyle Hendricks has been two very different pitchers at home and on the road. It’s so very strange.
Home:Â 27.2 IP, 2.60 ERA; .198/.212/.317
Away:Â 16.1 IP, 6.61 ERA; .338/.351/.521
And it’s not like the teams he’s faced on the road (Reds twice and Indians) are all that much tougher than the teams he’s faced at Wrigley Field (Cardinals, Brewers, Royals, White Sox). I really don’t know what it is, but I hope facing the second worst offense in MLB tonight helps, even if it is on the road.
As a team, the Pirates have a 65 wRC+ that is actually even worse against right-handed pitchers (54 wRC+ … last in the Majors). Hendricks really should dominate tonight. We’ll see.
