The Little Boy and I were driving into Chicago for our impromptu guys’ trip, and then walking around the outside of Wrigley, for much of today’s game, so I didn’t really catch much of it live. Heard the first couple innings on the radio, which gave me enough time to enjoy the Cubs loading the bases with no outs in the second and then, naturally, failing to score. How Pat Hughes doesn’t even hint at the pencils he must be breaking this year is really something.
From what I gleaned on Adbert Alzolay’s outing is that he didn’t quite have it, his defense didn’t help him out, and then he really didn’t have it. Ryan Tepera struggled after that, though Jason Adam and Dan Winkler cruised. But with only Ian Happ available to provide offense, the damage was done.
But, hey, how about Ian Happ homering twice in his return from taking a ball off his face? That seems good.
