There is little as frustrating on the one side, and as glorious on the other side, as a well-timed and beautifully-executed double-play.
So it was three times tonight for the Cubs in their 5-1 win over the Cardinals. Each of their double-plays was awfully nice, with Kris Bryant playing the part of second baseman for one (with a glove flip), Jason Kipnis with a long-distanced backhand flip for another, and Nico Hoerner, Javy Báez, and Anthony Rizzo combining for one at a sufficient distance that it should’ve been impossible.
