For reasons that may or may not be tied to his slump, Kris Bryant is not wearing his usual large left elbow guard tonight.
So of course, he gets hit right on the damn elbow tonight:

Bryant was checked on by the trainer, and ultimately took his base at first. But we’ve seen Bryant stay in games before and ultimately start feeling the effects of an injury later. Just recently, he injured his wrist and finger in Cleveland, stayed in the game, homered in his next at bat, and then tried to keep playing through the injury before missing a couple weeks.
We’ll have to watch this one closely, and hopefully it was just a really lucky impact. It sure looked ugly.
Fortunately, from a this-game perspective, Bryant getting on base proved beneficial, as Javy Báez hit the Cubs’ second two-out, run-scoring right field triple of the night:
