The New York Mets sale officially closed this afternoon, with Steve Cohen taking over as the new owner. He did not waste time.
Cohen is cleaning house completely, and immediately:
Mets GM Brodie Van Wagenen and his entire front office are gone. Full house-cleaning by Steve Cohen within hours of taking control of the Mets.

Cohen will apparently work with his hand-picked President (and former Mets exec) Sandy Alderson to build out an entirely new front office. That’s going to be a mighty attractive lure, I expect, and I also expect the pay to be strong. Buckle up, folks, because the Mets are going to be so very aggressive on all fronts. (Heck, we’ve probably already seen it begin on the minor league side.)
