The Cubs tried to slip infielder Max Schrock through waivers, but it wasn’t going to happen. Not with the Reds in desperate need of infielders, in any case.
The Reds are very excited about it, too:
Welcome to Reds Country, Max!

The Cubs had originally claimed the high-contact slapster off of waivers way back at the start of the offseason, but with the addition of, among others, Sergio Alcantara (whom the Cubs must’ve preferred as infield depth), the Cubs let Schrock go.
