Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Brewers (2:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs lost their first game of the spring last night, but they’re back at it today with a road game against the Brewers at “American Family Fields of Phoenix” (I guess they sold the naming rights to both stadiums?). This game is on MLB Network and Fox Sports Wisconsin, if you get that, but otherwise is not on Marquee. Tomorrow’s game (at the Diamondbacks) won’t be broadcast either – the next game on Marquee is on Monday against the Rangers.

But circling back to this contest, Shelby Miller is getting his first official start in a Cubs uniform, which feels like a long-time coming. It’s entirely unclear what the Cubs hope to get out of Miller (a rotation candidate? a guy to transition into the bullpen full-time?). But he has had a lot of success in the past and didn’t seem to preclude any other additions in the rotation. So let’s see what he’s got left.

Meanwhile, Ian Happ once again leads his lineup, playing center field next to his new outfield mate, Joc Pederson. Hopefully, those two form a nice defensive bond and the Cubs outfield picture is a net positive relative to last season.

Go Cubs.
