Not that we really need reminders at this point, but even as you can start to see the light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, people are still being impacted by COVID-19 daily. Baseball, which is trying to play its second season during the pandemic, is not immune.
Unfortunately, Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto has tested positive for COVID-19:

Although Joey Votto, 37, is in the decline phase of his career, he remains the heart and soul of that Reds club, and I’m sure they won’t want to be without him. For now, Votto has been placed on the injured list, and hopefully he will recover well and quickly if he’s experience symptoms.
The vaccines are rolling out, and players (and personnel) are likely within a couple months of having access. That’s great news. But in the interim, they (and all of us) will have to remain vigilant.
