Spring Training Miscellany: Old Friend Blasts Off, Vargas Homers, Marisnick B Games

The Cubs lost 10-2 to the mighty Royals today, with old friend Jorge Soler going deep in the process. Nice for him.

With apologies, I wasn’t able to see much of today’s game, so I don’t yet have much for you in the way of eyes-on feedback. The box score suggests it was a rough day across the board for Cubs pitchers, even if there was at least some Adbert Alzolay and Dillon Maples highlighting:

The only offense for the Cubs came by way of an Ildemaro Vargas two-run shot:

There was also a B game today, featuring Zach Davies making his next start, and Jake Marisnick getting in his first “game” action after recovering from his calf injury:
