I said it with the Tommy La Stella moment, and I’ll say it again: mic up players, man. It’s so much fun.
Anthony Rizzo was mic’d up for the first inning today, having fun out in the field, and then in the dugout, and then on-deck, as Joc Pederson batted with Ian Happ on third base. After some general Joc-related discussion, Rizzo calls a fastball for Pederson, who gets one up, and hammers it:

I don’t want to sleep on the Pederson blast – how does he hit a pitch up there so high and so far? gorgeous – but the Rizzo call was pretty darn funny.
Rizzo, mic'd up: "I'm calling fastball here. Am I just all in or what?"
Joc Pederson gets a fastball, homers to right.
Rizzo: "That's a homer, fellas. That's 2-0. Because I told him. I told Joc what was coming. You heard that, right?"
